About our lab
藤井研究室では、流域環境保全や物質循環、水利用(処理)に関する環境工学分野の研究に加え、気候変動や生物多様性の劣化、社会のグローバル化、持続可能な開発など多様な社会・環境要素を包含した学際融合研究に取り組んでいます。
技術革新や新たな現象の理解など多くの発見は、異分野の融合により生み出されてきました。本研究室でも、土木・環境工学に加え、環境科学、材料科学、データサイエンス、微生物学、分析化学、量子化学など、異分野の知見・技術を積極的に活用し、水質・生態系評価や水処理における技術革新を実現します。
発足間もない研究室ですが、異なるバックグラウンドを持った、活力ある学生・若手研究者らが世界各国から集結し、最新の情報と人が集まる環境工学分野のハブとなるような研究グループを目指します。また、若手自らが考え、発信する能力を養い、切磋琢磨しあう環境を醸成することが重要と考えています。その意味において、学術・社会的に重要な研究課題のみならず、各々の知的好奇心を尊重し、型破りな創造的研究も歓迎します。
In addition to research on environmental engineering fields such as watershed environmental conservation, elemental cycle and water use (treatment), Fujii Laboratory promote interdisciplinary research that includes various social and environmental elements such as climate change, degradation of biodiversity, social globalization and sustainable development.
Many discoveries, such as technological innovations and the understanding of new phenomena, have been made through the integration of different research fields. In our laboratory, in addition to civil and environmental engineering field, we actively utilize knowledge and technologies from different fields such as environmental science, materials science, data science, microbiology, analytical chemistry, and quantum chemistry to realize technical innovations in water quality and ecosystem assessment and water treatment.
We aim to develop a research group where energetic young researchers and students with different backgrounds come together from all over the world. We also believe it is important to foster the research environment where young researchers and students can exchange the ideas freely and improve the knowledge and research skills via discussion with lab members (e.g., during seminar presentation and workshop held in the laboratory). We also respect the intellectual curiosity of each researcher and student, thus welcome the unconventional and creative research as well as research of academic and social importance.
